ZAKA Volunteers Under Fire

ZAKA volunteers came under fire at the scene of the Eilat triple terror attack. Protected by the security forces, they worked to clear the tragic terror scene.

Then, suddenly and without warning, the shooting began. Again.

Just meters away, a Special Forces policeman was killed and another wounded. They took shelter in the ditch at the side of the road, with nothing to protect them from the bullets.

No helmets.

No protective vests.

But they went back to their sacred work. Work that must be done. Even under fire.ZAKA volunteers in the Gaza periphery are also under fire, as they work without protection to save lives during the mortar and rocket attacks. Only 25 of the 170 ZAKA volunteers in the Southern district have helmets and protective vests.
